Off ECMO and awake!

Just a quick update today to let you know that Pop has successfully weaned off the ECMO machine, his heart IV and general anesthesia! He’s awake, breathing and pumping oxygen to the rest of his body all on his own. It’s a great day!

The nurse held up a phone to Pop’s ear and Susie was able to send him love from all of us, and he responded with hand squeezes, eye movements and nodding.

We have another Zoom call scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, so I will have a more substantial update after that, but wanted to pass on the positive news as day was such a key milestone. Whatever you are doing in your own way to help move things forward, keep doing it! Pop is making meaningful progress everyday.
