THIS BLOG IS MY STORY ABOUT THE ADVENTURES OF HAVING A DOUBLE LUNG TRANSPLANT.

I found out on December 18, 2019 I needed a lung transplant. Without it I had maybe six months to live due to a aggressive lung disease. Since that time I have been on oxygen 24/7 and working hard to get accepted into the transplant program at Duke University Hospital.

I found out I was accepted on March 10th, 2020. I feel incredibly fortunate as Duke is the arguably the top institution in the world to offer this life saving procedure. Nine hundred people per year are referred to Duke that need a transplant. They will do approximately 160 in 2020. I’m so lucky to be in that number!

Many family and friends encouraged me to write about this journey. With the help of my daughter Emma, we’ve created this blog as a way to keep you informed about this journey. I will do my best to keep it current. So check back whenever you want an update.
