Who is going to solve hospital food?

One way to be assured that Pop is making progress in his recovery is to know that he has already started calling the cafeteria to try and bargain for better food.  Despite his negotiating skills, there are no great options for him, as you can see here:

Those of you in the restaurant and natural foods industries reading this blog: who is going to solve this? This sorry dinner is the future for all of us as we age if we don’t get cracking!  In the short term, Dad is already scheming to bribe the nursing staff to help him improve the situation.

Despite this injury to his culinary sensibilities, Pop’s primary injuries continue to heal well.  Two more chest tubes were removed this weekend, bringing him down to three total.  He did have a PICC line added to his left arm to help with blood tests and medications, but this will put an end to multiple needle sticks everyday—a welcome break for his protesting veins.

His daily goals remain more walking and more coughing.  Coughing is still very uncomfortable, and Pop says that his determination to remain positive and steadfast in his recovery is tested everyday—but everyday he also finds new strength.  He knows all of us continue to cheer him on, especially his spirit team leaders Molly and Juliana, who sent through this video:

May we all have a Juliana in our lives to help us keep walking when we don’t want to walk any further!
